TGIF!

Fridays come around so quickly, it seems.

Today is not a good day to wear your favorite shoes unless they are waterproof! Joe and I were caught in a downpour coming out of Lupe's yesterday evening! Water was standing in the parking lot. Today is supposed to be the same weather wise. When all else fails, in order to save a great pair of shoes; take them off and barefoot it! Channel 2 gives "hair day" alerts. I think "shoe day" alerts are much more valuable to the ladies.

Expecting a large delivery today - that's always fun! Joe is painting the knit group table and it is coming along very well. I got one coat of red (Emperor's Silk) Annie Sloan paint on a chair this morning. As furnishings go into place, I can get an idea of where a fun knitting poster or print might go. I also have some fun pictures from the Knit N Needle that will be on the walls.

Thursday

The most important thing accomplished today - the sign is underway! We are hoping that it doesn't take very long. The delays, if any, would be from The Woodlands and AMReit giving their approval. Our sign will match existing signs so we aren't anticipating a problem. Sometimes, it can be something as simple as waiting on a committee to meet.

Joe will finish with shelving this weekend. One shelf was badly damaged when he opened it so "somebody" has to go back to Ikea. The bathroom will be painted Hydrangea (light violet blue) Saturday also. (a big thing for me as I never "do" blue)

I Installed the software this afternoon and began reading instructions. Sigh. It is supposed to be EASY. After the E-commerce site, this should be a breeze! I hope most of the merchandise comes with a barcode.

Also, put first coat of paint on another chair this morning before going to the shop. I took a snap of the 4 new Annie Sloan paints I picked up yesterday - I was in the mood for color. I used the yellow this morning. It's gorgeous!

I Am itching to paint something Emperor's Silk RED! Maybe a cute little round table to use during Christmas?

 

 

Little Yellow Chair

I have been painting a plain little chair today. It's really beginning to look cute. The color is called Cream but it's a beautiful pale yellow. First, a picture of this sad little chair. We found this Chair at Round Top for $25 at the last place we stopped. It has some nice little details on the top back and front legs. It is a simple design and surprisingly comfortable. I want chairs throughout the shop for shoppers to be able to sit down if they want to!

Don't know if you can make out the detail but it's really cute. I am going to add some pale pinkish details, I think.

 

Shabby Chic Hutch Progress

Posting a couple of quick pics of the hutch painting progress. I am pleased with the way it is turning out. I have Duck Egg to paint on the inside and the raised decorative pieces on the front along with a little stripe on The largest knob on the front legs. (Duck Egg is a cross between green and blue). Pulls have been removed and will be replaced.

There are 2 shelves inside. They will be painted white. Inside the drawer will be white also. Yarn colors will pop and look fabulous on white!

 

Painting the China Hutch White

When you don't HAVE to paint, painting is fun. I can say I have always enjoyed painting. It makes everything brand spanking new AND whatever color you want it to be!

I am using a paint I have never used before. It has a great reputation and comes from overseas.

Annie Sloan Paint.

This is a cute small china hutch (we paid $150 - marked down from $350) that we are going to use to display yarn. (Joe and I broke the glass out of the front loading it into the back of the truck - saves me from having to tape off the glass before painting). We will replace the glass after its painted.

Some people (Joe) finds it painful when other people (me) paint over wood. I think it's cool to create new and pretty from old and ugly. All men seem to have this "thing" about wood.
